He is also the chairman of B.D.M. International Institute, one of the leading schools of Kolkata educating more than 7000 students.
His dynamic personality and strong administrative powers is a great help and booster in motivating his sub-ordinates. His main focus is to help in the smooth and efficient running of the Institution as well as its discipline.
Indus Valley World School is pleased to welcome Amita Prasad – a well-known academician with a distinguished career in the field of education.
A student of Modern High School for Girls, she graduated with Honours in History from Lady Brabourne College and went on to do her Masters in Modern History from Jadavpur University where she was awarded three gold medals. She found her passion in school teaching – which she has made her vocation for over 30 years.
She was Vice Principal of Modern High School for Girls before she joined The Heritage School as Dean, Research and Development and then was appointed Vice Principal. Previously, she has taught in Loreto House and at the Oral School for Deaf Children. She has a wide range of experience in school administration and in mentoring students in all aspects of school life - scholastic and co-scholastic.
She has been closely involved with teacher development programmes. She has been a resource person at numerous workshops on creative teaching in schools. She is a member of the Governing Body of Manovikas Kendra, of the Advisory Board of “Peaceworks” (an initiative of the Seagull Foundation for the Arts) and also serves as advisor to some community outreach initiatives in Kolkata.
Amita Prasad is looking forward to joining us as Director of Indus Valley World School. She says, “The very name of the school suggests that its philosophy is rooted in the 5,000 year old history of our country. At the same time, its outlook is international and we believe that education today must prepare children to be global citizens in the true sense of the term.”
An educator for nearly twenty five years, Mrs. Anita George is dedicated and a resourceful administrator. Her tenure as a teacher and principal has ranged from NGO’s to some of the premier institutions of Kolkata. She has facilitated the social and intellectual growth of students by creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and open communication.
Her mission is to create an environment where young minds are nurtured to face the odds, strengthen their potential and develop themselves not only as aware citizens but also into leaders of Global Status through a holistic approach to learning.
She is instrumental in getting the ISO 9001 : 2008 and 14001 : 2004 certificates for IVWS and has taken forward the task of achieving the British Council Accreditation.
Mrs. Reshma Bhattachayra Vice Principal Mrs. Reshma Bhattachayra, a postgraduate in Comparative Literature, B.Ed. and a Certificate holder in Educational Administration from Jadavpur University is an experienced and passionate educator. With gentle and caring spirit she has been nurturing the young minds of IVWS since its inception. Her curiosity and breadth of interests lies mainly with the pre primary and primary children in providing them with a joyful learning experience. Living from the heart, she is a strong believer in experiential learning with an undying faith to unlock the potential in each child. Imparting holistic education is not just a promise but a practice, she is committed to.
Ms Priyadarshinee Guha is a Masters in Modern History and a gold medallist from Calcutta University.
Passionate about teaching, she chose to make this her life force and has been teaching History and English for the last 22 years in well known schools of Calcutta. As a teacher of History she has conducted several workshops for students and for training of teachers in using novel and creative approaches in the classroom.
A trained Rabindra Sangeet singer, she has worked for several years with a reputed Bengali theater group in Kolkata and has also directed water ballets based on the works of Tagore. A multi-faceted person, she has conducted quizzes in schools and given talks in the city to varied audiences. She is well known for her ability to host events, serve as the master of ceremonies for programmes and regularly interacts with eminent writers at Literary meets in the city. She successfully marries her love for the arts with her teaching and helps children to explore and identify creative avenues of expression, through drama, dance, singing, music and literary endeavours.
